FNCCI election begins after two hours of delay

KATHMANDU, April 12: Voting has started for the election of the new working committee (2080-2083) of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). 

The voting, which was supposed to start at 8 am at Pragya Bhawan in Kamaladi, started 2 hours late due to lack of technical preparation.

According to the Federation Election Committee, a total of 1953 voters are participating in the election. There are 117 voters for the district towns, 123 for the commodity and 1748 for the associate, which has a 50 percent vote share in the federation election.

Similarly, there are five voters on the binational side. One booth has been set up for district towns and objectives and three booths for associates. Mobile phones and inflammable materials are prohibited in the polling stations.

Since four people have been unanimously elected as working committee members of the federation, one senior vice president, three vice presidents and 59 working committee members will be elected from the election. 

According to the FNCCI statute, after the general assembly, the current senior vice president Chandra Prasad Dhakal automatically becomes the president of the federation for three years.

Anjan Shrestha, Ramchandra Sanghai and Umesh Lal Shrestha are competing for the position of Senior Vice President. Former Vice President Umesh Lal Shrestha, current Associates and commodity Vice Presidents Ramchandra Sanghai and Anjan Shrestha have entered the competition along with their respective panels.
