FNJ demands action against Jaisi and his family's assaulters

The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Kailali chapter today reached the District Administration Office (DAO), Kailali to submit a memorandum to the Chief District Officer, demanding action those involved in physical assault on local journalist Laxmi Jaisi and his family.

KAILALI, Nov 24: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Kailali chapter today reached the District Administration Office (DAO), Kailali to submit a memorandum to the Chief District Officer, demanding action those involved in physical assault on local journalist Laxmi Jaisi and his family. 


A delegation of journalists associated with the FNJ branch visited the Kailali DAO to submit the memo to CDO Gobinda Prasad Rijal.

An unidentified group on November 18 smashed the door of Jaisi's house at Bauniya of Bardgoriya Rural Municipality-1, Kailali in the midnight and physically assaulted him, his mother, spouse and another member of the family. 


The FNJ chapter has said it strongly condemned the incident and demanded that guilty in the attack should be brought to book as soon as possible. The incident has been termed an open attack on press freedom and the entire journalism field.

 

In response, CDO Rijal said the district administration was much sensitive towards the safety of journalists, he said they were minutely investigating into the incident. RSS
