RUKUM WEST, Dec 20: The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) has assisted journalists affected by the November 3 earthquake in Rukum West.
A team comprising FNJ Senior Vice-president Ramesh Bista, General Secretary Roshan Puri, and Treasurer Kalendra Sejuwal on Wednesday handed a cheque of Rs 400,000 to district chair Laxman KC amidst a program at Musikot Khalanga, the district headquarters of Rukum West.
During the program, FNJ General Secretary Puri said although the assistance was symbolic, the FNJ is committed to stand by them in the days to come. "The FNJ has been aware of the situation of journalists in the quake-affected areas since the beginning," he said.

Senior Vice President Bista also announced the readiness to provide training for journalists of the affected areas on need basis and cooperating with them for addressing their specific issues. As he said, the FNJ is expected to make a significant decision to promote journalism in Jajarkot and Rukum West, the districts hit by the quake, once the team gets back to Kathmandu.
The FNJ Rukum West chapter has been urged to ensure the distribution of assistance justifiably.
The FNJ central team also provided Rs 400,000 for journalists in Jajarkot as well.
