KATHMANDU, May 24: Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal is leaving for St John's, the capital of Antigua and Barbuda on Friday.

KATHMANDU, May 24: Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal is leaving for St John's, the capital of Antigua and Barbuda on Friday. She is scheduled to participate in the Fourth International Conference of Small Island Developing States to be organized by the United Nations from May 27 to 30.


During the conference, she will deliver a speech on behalf of the group as the Chair of the Global Coordinating Bureau for the Least Developed Countries Group (LDCs).

Foreign Secretary Lamsal is also scheduled to hold various bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the conference, the ministry said. The conference is held every 10 years with the aim of reviewing the progress of small island developing countries in sustainable development and proposing an action plan for the new decade.


The fourth conference is being held under the theme of "Charting the course toward resilient prosperity". 


The Foreign Secretary will return home on June 1.
