Four assailants on doctors to be detained for three more days

HETAUDA, Sept 16: The District Police Office, Hetauda has received permission to detain four attackers on doctors for three more days for further investigation.


The doctors at Sancho Hospital of Hetauda city were beaten up within hospital premises following a dispute over the death of a person in the hospital.


The District Police Office had arrested Rama Pradhan, Ramita Pradhan, Rohit Pradhan and Anup Pradhan for beating Dr Bikash Thapa and Dr Prashant Bidari of Sancho Hospital.

Deputy Superintendent of Police in the District Police Office, Laxmi Bhandari, informed that they were held based on the information provided by the victim doctors and CCTV footage. Investigation on the arrested ones was going on, she added.


Rajesh Pradhan from Hetauda-12, who was suffering from dengue, died on August 10. Over the death, the relatives of the victim attacked Dr Thapa and Dr Bidari.


Pradhan was however referred to Chitwan Medical College by the Sancho Hospital for further treatment where he breathed his last.


Meanwhile, doctors from government and private hospitals in Hetauda city suspended all services except emergency services in protest of the attack on doctors on Friday.


Dr Thapa is a general physician and Dr Bidari looks after the anesthesia department of the hospital.
