Four out of five missing individuals in Dharche landslide found dead

KATHMANDU, July 29: Four individuals out of five, who went missing in a landslide that occurred at Resegaon of Dharche Rural Municipality-5 in Gorkha have been found dead.

KATHMANDU, July 29: Four individuals out of five, who went missing in a landslide that occurred at Resegaon of Dharche Rural Municipality-5 in Gorkha have been found dead. 


During a search operation conducted by Nepal Army, Armed Police Force (APF) along with locals, the dead bodies of three people were found on Monday and one body earlier on Sunday. On Monday, the dead bodies of Jit Bahadur Gurung, his father Sulal Kanchha and local Ramesh Gurung were found buried near the courtyard of the house. Police said that the body of a woman found in Fishling, Gandaki Rural Municipality has been identified as Jit Bahadur's wife Kanchhi Maya Gurung and efforts are underway to bring the body to the incident site.

A search operation to locate Ramesh Pariyar, who went missing in the same landslide, is currently ongoing.


All the people who died in the landslide on Saturday night were employees of Water Energy Hydro. Similarly, landslides in the nearby areas have also damaged houses and agriculture farms. Dilip Gurung and Cham Bahadur Gurung, who were injured in the landslide, were rescued via a helicopter. They are currently undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.
