KATHMANDU, Aug 20: Long queues have been seen at fuel stations in the past two days because of the failure of the state-owned Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) to make regular supply of petroleum products.

The problem arose as NOC did not supply petroleum products to fuel stations on Thursday, citing public holiday.

NOC does not supply fuel to pump on public holidays.

Long queues were formed as pumps curtailed supply, citing three-day public holiday that began on Thursday.

“Sometimes supply gets affected during public holidays as our depots remain closed during holidays,” Bhanubhakta Khanal, spokesperson of NOC, told Republica. “However, consumers need not worry as our depots have already started supplying fuel to pumps.”

Khanal said the situation has started improving from Friday evening itself. “Consumers will get fuel as per the demand as all pumps are getting fuel,” he added.
