Fugitive human-trafficking-accused held after 16 yrs

KATHMANDU, March 14: A man accused of human-trafficking who had fled away with hand-cuffs from the police 16 years ago has landed in the police net.

KATHMANDU, March 14: A man accused of human-trafficking who had fled away with hand-cuffs from the police 16 years ago has landed in the police net.


On Tuesday, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police arrested Phurba Lama, one of the four accused, who had fled away with hand-cuffs in 2047 BS.

According to CIB, Lama along with his four accomplices had run away from Kharanitar of Nuwakot on June 28, 1990. Police had arrested on the charge of trafficking two 14-year-old girls. On August 29, 2006, Nuwakot District Court had convicted him of trafficking girls and sentenced him to 7 years and six months in jail.


Lama has been sent to the central jail.
