KATHMANDU, Feb 21: The weather is expected to change, with rain and snow forecast in various parts of the country today. According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Nepal is currently experiencing the influence of a westerly low-pressure system.
According to the meteorological bulletin issued by the MFD earlier at 6AM, there is light rain at one or two places in Gandaki Province. Additionally, Madhesh Province and Bagmati Province are experiencing generally cloudy weather, while the rest of the country is experiencing partly cloudy to mainly clear conditions, as stated by an official from the MFD.
Snowfall likely in some parts of Gandaki Province
This afternoon, the MFD forecasts partly to mostly cloudy conditions nationwide, with the possibility of light rain accompanied by thunder/lightning at a few places in the hilly areas, including in Madhesh Province.
There is a possibility of light to moderate snowfall at some places of the high hills and mountainous areas of the country and light snowfall at a few places of other high hilly and mountainous areas.
Partly to mostly cloudy conditions are expected throughout the country tonight. The MFD indicates a possibility of light rain with thunder/lightning at a few places in Sudurpaschim Province, Karnali Province, and Gandaki Province, as well as at one or two places in the remaining hilly areas. Furthermore, there is a potential for light snowfall in certain high hilly and mountainous areas of the country.
