KATHMANDU, July 20: The Nepali Congress has appointed Shyam Kumar Ghimire as the chief whip of the NC Parliamentary Party. NC President and PP leader Sher Bahadur Deuba appointed Ghimire to the position on Saturday.

The post fell vacant after NC Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak was appointed as Home Minister in the KP Oli-led cabinet. Elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) from Sindhuli-1, Ghimire is also a central member of the party and the coordinator of the Finance Committee.
