UDAYAPUR, March 28: Ghurmi village in the district has become vulnerable to inferno after an oil tanker met with an accident along the Katari-Hardeni road section of Siddhicharan Highway on Wednesday morning.


The villagers have been in a state of panic after the oil spilled all over the jungle near the village at a time when the leaves have gone dry and the weather is hot and windy.

An oil tanker, Na 6 Kha 3231, carrying 12,000 liters of oil skidded off and fell some 1000 meters down the road along Katari Ghurmi road section in Katari Municipality-11 at around 2 am today when it was heading to Ghurmi from Amlekhgunj.


Tanker driver Purna Prasad Khanal, 23, of Bara Amlekhgunj, co-driver Saroj Moktan, 31 of Makwanpur died in the accident, said Police Inspector Chandra Rajbangsi of Area Police Office, Katari.


Of the three injured in the accident, 17-year-old Abishek Shrestha, breathed his last while being taken to Kathmandu from Bara in a helicopter.


Injured Subas Tamang, 24 of Bhaktapur and Sujan Golel, 25, of Dolakha are undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Balkhu.
