BUTWAL, March 27: A young woman who had gone to take a bath at a community tap was found murdered in Palpa.


The victim, identified as 19-year-old Padma Sunar from Khyaha, Ribdikot Rural Municipality-1, was discovered dead. Padma had gone to bathe at the community tap near her home around 4 o'clock on Tuesday afternoon but did not return by late evening.

Police reported that various parts of her body had been cut with sharp weapons.


SP Narendra Chand of the District Police Office in Palpa stated that since the incident occurred in the evening, authorities had cordoned off the area and deployed a canine unit from Bhairahawa to aid in the investigation.


While the motive behind the murder remains unknown, preliminary investigations suggest that the crime occurred as Padma resisted attempt of rape.


Ward chairman Chiranjeevi Pokharel disclosed that Padma was a 12th-grade student at Padma Sharda Secondary School.
