Global bids called for Madan Bhandari University’s DPR

KATHMANDU, July 20: The Detailed Project Report (DPR) of Madan Bhandari Science and Technology University will be developed through an international bidding system.  


The university infrastructure construction committee has shared that the process for the same has already begun. For the same purpose, Rs 2 billion was allocated in the previous fiscal year.  Similarly, Rs 1.55 billion has been allocated in the current fiscal year.   


It is stated that the cost of the DPR should be proposed by the aspirant company to the committee.

According to federal lawmaker Gokul Banskota, the global bid has been called as the university would be of international standard. The university will sprawl over an area of 10,000 ropanis.  


The estimated cost of the university is Rs 43 billion. The district revenue office has stated that the land acquisition process for the university has been completed. The university will be built in Panchkhal and Namobuddha areas.  


According to the office, 10,300 ropanis of land at Namobuddha-2 and 3 and Panchkhal-7, 10 and 12 have been transferred to the Infrastructure Development Committee of the University. 


Plans are afoot to construct buildings of a teaching hospital and a medical college, roads, hostel building for teachers and students, a helipad and a sports ground on the lands, it has been said. 


Constituted through a Cabinet meeting on February 4, 2019, the infrastructure preparation committee has taken the administrative responsibility for the development of the university.


The government published its decision in this regard in the National Gazette on 24 June, 2019 as per the direction by the university infrastructure construction committee. 


Acting on this, the government on 9 December 2019 decided to transfer the land to the development committee. 


Similarly, the government had directed the district land revenue office to forward the process to manage land for the university.
