KATHMANDU, Jan 29: After remaining stable for four consecutive days, the price of gold in the domestic market witnessed a surge of Rs 300 per tola on Monday.
Fine gold was traded at Rs 118,300 per tola today. The price had remained stable at Rs 118,000 per tola from last Thursday to Sunday.
Gold price increases by Rs 400 per tola
At the onset of the previous week, the trading price for gold was set at Rs 118,400 per tola for five days. However, it experienced a decline to Rs 118,000 per tola on Thursday.
On Monday, standard gold was traded at Rs 117,750 per tola, marking an increase from Rs 117,450 per tola, which had remained constant since Thursday.
The silver market also witnessed a rise of Rs 5 per tola, to become Rs 1,405 per tola today. Last Thursday, silver had maintained stability at Rs 1,400 per tola until Sunday, having been priced at Rs 1,380 per tola on the previous Wednesday.
Internationally, both gold and silver experienced a surge in trading prices on Monday. Gold is currently being traded at $2025.95 per ounce, up from $2018.57 per ounce on Sunday. Silver, too, saw an increase to $22.89 per ounce from $22.8 on the previous day.
