Government releases Rs 1 billion to provide relief to farmers

KATHMANDU, Feb 18: The government has released Rs 1 billion to provide relief to the farmers who incurred loss and damage in paddy plantation due to unseasonal rainfall.

KATHMANDU, Feb 18: The government has released Rs 1 billion to provide relief to the farmers who incurred loss and damage in paddy plantation due to unseasonal rainfall.


Minister for Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand said the government has decided to compensate the loss in keeping with the criteria and process determined by the District Disaster Management Committee.

A meeting chaired by Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey and attended by Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development decided to provide relief amounts only to farmers who faced loss and damage in their crops.


The relief amount will be provided to the affected farmers as per the guideline developed in 2078 BS.
