KATHMANDU, June 22: Ruling coalition lawmakers including Nepali Congress (NC)’s Sajay Kumar Gautam, CPN (Maoist Center)’s Dharmashila Chapagain and CPN (Unified Socialist)’s Parwati Kumari Bisunke have criticized the government over the delay in providing fertilizers to the farmers, not allocating a budget for their electoral constituency in the budget for upcoming fiscal year, and not making any efforts to provide relief to the citizens hit the hardest by the spike in inflation.
Speaking at a parliament meeting on Tuesday, lawmaker Gautam expressed his indignation toward the government for its failure to manage fertilizers even as Asar 15 is around the corner. Stating that people have started suffering from the rise in inflation, he called on the government to remain cautious over the issue.

Similarly, lawmaker Chapagain expressed concern over the government’s decision not to allocate a budget for her electoral constituency. Stating that she had talked with Finance Minister Janardan Sharma to allocate budget for projects that are of concern to the public, she said that the people have demanded an answer from the government regarding its decision not to allocate budget for the coming fiscal year.
Meanwhile, lawmaker Bisunke expressed dissatisfaction over the government’s silence whenever a topic regarding the Upper Karnali Hydropower Project arises. She also stressed that the government should move the project ahead through domestic investment. “The project has the potential to make a significant contribution to the country’s economy, So, why is such a project being delayed?” she asked.
