Govt announces 753 vacancies for employment coordinators

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security has started the process to recruit employment coordinators in all 753 local units across the country as part of the implementation of the ambitious Prime Minister's Employment Program.

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security has started the process to recruit employment coordinators in all 753 local units across the country as part of the implementation of the ambitious Prime Minister's Employment Program.


According to Joint Secretary Prakash Dahal, who oversees the program at the ministry, applications have invited online from all prospective candidates aged between 21 to 45 years starting Friday. Those interested can file their applications within 15 days from Friday.

The government plans to recruit 705 gazetted third class officials and 48 non-gazetted first class staffers to work as employment coordinators to implement the employment program. They will implement the Employment Management Information System (EMIS). Under the program, the ministry plans to start registering details of unemployed persons, prospective employers and employment sectors in each local unit starting mid-May. While a regulation to this effect has already been endorsed, the ministry plans to endorse work procedures to execute the plan at the earliest.


The government has allocated Rs 3.1 billion in the current fiscal year to implement the ambitious program. The government plans to provide subsistence allowances to unemployed people.


Joint secretary Dahal said they have decided to recruit officer-level employees at local units with more than 10,000 population, while non-gazetted first class employees will be recruited at the local units with less than 10,000 population.


As per the requirement set by the Public Service Commission, the ministry has set minimum intermediate level of education for officials to be deputed as employment coordinators at the local units with less than 10,000 population and bachelor's level education for those to be deputed to the local units with more than 10,000 population.


The ministry plans to shortlist three candidates for one post and make final selection through computer skills test examination to be held at all seven provincial headquarters.
