Govt decides to draft a bill to regulate NHRC

KATHMANDU, Oct 19: The government has granted initial approval for the drafting of a bill aimed at regulating the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). A cabinet meeting held this morning at Singha Durbar took a decision to this effect.

KATHMANDU, Oct 19: The government has granted initial approval for the drafting of a bill aimed at regulating the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). A cabinet meeting held this morning at Singha Durbar took a decision to this effect. 


Government Spokesperson Rekha Sharma informed the media that the cabinet also approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Government of Nepal and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, focused on collaboration in the domains of youth and sports affairs.

Sharma revealed that the Ministry of Youth and Sports has been granted the authority to sign the MoU with their Egyptian counterparts. Furthermore, the government sanctioned an MoU between the Government of Nepal and the Government of Qatar, aimed at enhancing cooperation in the field of press and information. The ministry has been authorized to execute this MoU on behalf of the government.


Providing an update on Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, who is currently on a visit to China, spokesperson Sharma conveyed that he is receiving treatment at a hospital in Beijing after experiencing a minor heart attack. Fortunately, his condition is stable and not critical.
