KATHMANDU, Oct 1: The government has expedited preparations to bring an ordinance to amend the Electricity Act, 2049 BS to pave the way for private sector’s involvement in power trade.

The Electricity Act, 2049 BS does not have any provision that allows private sector’s involvement in power trade. Due to lack of such arrangement in the law, the government was not able to allow power trade to the private sector.
