Govt preparing to allow private sector to trade electricity: Minister Bhusal

KATHMANDU, Jan 10: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal has said that the government is preparing to allow the private sector to trade electricity. Addressing the ‘Nepal Power Market Summit’ program held at Kathmandu on Monday, Minister Bhusal said that the government was preparing to allow the private sector to trade in electricity to facilitate international trade.

KATHMANDU, Jan 10: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal has said that the government is preparing to allow the private sector to trade electricity. Addressing the ‘Nepal Power Market Summit’ program held at Kathmandu on Monday, Minister Bhusal said that the government was preparing to allow the private sector to trade in electricity to facilitate international trade. 


Stating that the procedure for allowing electricity trade to the private sector is being drafted, she said that discussions will also be held with the bodies concerned.

Minister Bhusal also said that the first priority of the government is to increase electricity consumption. She stressed the need to increase the production as well as the consumption of electricity to make the country prosperous.
