Govt ready to solve problems seen in cooperative sector: Minister Rai

KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Rajendra Kumar Rai has said that the government is ready to solve the problems seen in the cooperative sector.


Minister Rai said this while speaking at an interactive program on the causes and solutions of the crisis in cooperatives organized by the Association of Financial Media Operators in Kathmandu on Sunday. He said that the government is positive about identifying and solving the problems seen in the cooperative sector in recent times.

He also instructed the relevant agencies to identify and take action against the cooperatives that are miscreants rather than rumors in the market that cooperatives are in crisis. He promised that the ministry is ready to facilitate the immediate solution of the current problems and solutions of the cooperative sector in the ministry.


Minister Rai said that the problem was created when the cooperatives tried to earn more money by overstepping the law. He claimed that out of 30,000 cooperatives, only about 15 have not committed fraud. He mentioned that trust in cooperatives is being lost because there are more rumors about cooperatives.


He said that it is necessary to save the cooperatives, addressing that the daily problems of the people in the rural areas are solved by the cooperatives.
