BIRATNAGAR, Jan 17: Minister for Health and Population Birodh Khatiwada has said that the government is not in favor of a complete shutdown. At a discussion program organized by the government of Province 1 at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers in Biratnagar on Sunday, Minister Khatiwada said that the government is not in favor of a complete shutdown.
He said that even if the complete lockdown could save some people, the government would carry out only a partial lockdown as many people would face financial and mental problems and long-term effects. Minister Khatiwada informed that all areas except schools will be kept partially open by adopting health standards while controlling the COVID-19 pandemic. "The government is not in favor of a complete shutdown," he said.

Khatiwada also requested to make arrangements to adjust 25 people alternately in all social events including weddings and banquets. He said, "Invite your guests but not at the same time, invite them alternatively but do not allow more than 25 people to participate in the party at a time." He directed the provincial government and local government to vaccinate all against COVID-19. He urged the stakeholders to start the vaccination campaign across the province by making an action plan.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Social Development of Province 1 Jayaram Yadav, said that the Madhesi and Muslim communities have not shown interest in the vaccination campaign. He said that although other communities seemed to be aware of vaccination, there was a problem in vaccinating all citizens as Madhesi and Muslim communities are not interested in vaccination.
