Govt to monitor market nationwide to control price rise

KATHMANDU, JUNE 30: The government is preparing to launch a nationwide market monitoring drive aimed at controlling the artificial rise in the prices of food, medicine and services in various sectors under the pretext of fuel price hike.

KATHMANDU, JUNE 30: The government is preparing to launch a nationwide market monitoring drive aimed at controlling the artificial rise in the prices of food, medicine and services in various sectors under the pretext of fuel price hike.


Speaking at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies on Wednesday, Minister Dilendra Prasad Badu said that almost everything has become dearer under the pretext of price rise and the market is being monitored nationwide to control it.

He said that government mechanisms at the federal and provincial levels and district administration offices and local governments would be mobilized for market monitoring. Badu said that the district administration offices and the local governments have been told in writing to appoint a government official for monitoring.


He said the move was aimed at controlling the rise in the prices of food, medicine and various services, especially after the fuel prices have risen in recent times.
