Govt to take action against religion conversion

DHANKUTA, June 26: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa on Sunday warned that those involved in conversion of religion will face action.

DHANKUTA, June 26: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kamal Thapa on Sunday warned that those involved in conversion of religion will face action.


Speaking to local journalists in Dhankuta, DPM Thapa said that some groups are involved in conversion of religion by luring people of monetary and other benefits. Such groups will have to face action in accordance with the constitution.

However, he claimed that the constitution of the country permits to promote Hindu religion. A campaign to preserve the Hindu religion is the need of the hour, he said. Thapa, who is also the Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N), added that they will not stop promoting Hindu religion in wake of criticism.


When media persons questioned him over secularism, DPM Thapa said that the major political parties agreed on declaring the country secular under the influence of foreign countries.
