Half dozen houses at high risk of flood in Jhapa

DAMAK, June 28: The swollen Chanju River in Kamal rural municipality-5 of Jhapa district has intensified the erosion around the river bank. As a result, as many as six houses in the locality are at risk of inundation.

DAMAK, June 28: The swollen Chanju River in Kamal rural municipality-5 of Jhapa district has intensified the erosion around the river bank. As a result, as many as six houses in the locality are at risk of inundation.


The heavy rainfall from Monday night caused flooding in the River leading to erosion, according to Hukum Singh Rai, Chairperson of Kamal rural municipality.

The flood damaged a temporary embankment which added to risk of entering the water in human settlement.


Bista shared that ward no 1,2,5,6 and 7 in the rural municipality are at risk of inundation and erosion, added Rai. 


The local level has been consulting with the technical team for early preparedness and to control erosion in the River area, informed Rai.
