KATHMANDU, Feb 16: The Hotel Association Nepal (HAN) has called on Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale to facilitate the effective operation of the hotel industry in the situation created by COVID-19.
A team led by HAN President Shreejana Rana discussed current issues in the tourism sector with Tourism Minister Ale, HAN said in a statement. President Rana informed about the activities of HAN, which has succeeded in playing an important role in the promotion, development and protection of Nepal's tourism industry.

Stating that no person or organization should deviate from the duty of paying revenue, taxes and fees as mandated by the law, the HAN said that they have support to the government effort to collect revenue and fees prescribed by the existing laws.
While drawing attention to the government’s decision to revoke the operating license of the five-star hotel Yak & Yeti, which has made a significant contribution to the promotion of tourism in Nepal, President Rana said that there was a problem in providing advance booked services after the government’s decision.
She emphasized on the need to focus on law enforcement, but said appreciating the contribution made by the hotel to the national economy and employment was important. She also stressed on the need to appreciate the contribution made by an institution with the huge investment made by the hotel to the country’s economy.
