KATHMANDU, April 4: The Department of Health and Population of the CPN-UML submitted a memorandum on Wednesday to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population, Upendra Yadav, urging him to take initiatives for amending contradictory laws in the health sector. A team led by the head of the department, Krishna Gopal Shrestha, submitted a 15-point memorandum to Minister Yadav.
Minister Yadav has also been asked to bring reforms to the laws so that health insurance schemes could be made more effective. The department also demanded Minister Yadav to equip the health insurance board with necessary workforce and accomplish construction of basic hospitals as soon as possible.
Doctors called for talks
Implementation of effective measures for the prevention and control of epidemic diseases including dysentery, dengue, measles, coronavirus and full-fledged operation of central hospitals including Bir Hospital by managing all sorts of resources are also underlined in the memorandum. It reminded adoption of integrated IT is essential to boost quality health service.
In addition to the health-related concern, the Deputy Prime Minister was made aware of the problems caused by floods and landslides and urgency of preparedness, and stopping the youth exodus by creating jobs and favorable atmosphere for work within the country.
