The temperature in Kathmandu plummeted to as low as 7.6 degrees Celsius today, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology. The ministry has requested one and all to keep warm and protect themselves against the increasing cold.

Furthermore, the ministry has advised all to take warm food and water and suggested not to stay outdoors and in an open area for a long time. Proper ventilation be maintained while using heaters or geysers, the ministry said.

Considering the risk of infection due to contaminated water and food, the ministry has urged all to pay special attention to food intake. Washing hands before preparing and eating a meal is also recommended.
