To minimize the risk of snake bites, individuals are advised to take certain preventive measures. If venturing out at night, it is recommended to carry a torchlight, wear appropriate footwear such as shoes or gumboots, and opt for thick pants that adequately cover the feet.

Additionally, maintaining a clean surrounding by regularly cutting weeds and avoiding areas with excessive dirt is crucial. Before going to bed, one should carefully inspect the surroundings, including under and around the bed. Sleeping with a mosquito net is also advisable.

In the unfortunate incident of a snake bite, immediate action should be taken. The affected area should be immobilized to prevent the spread of venom. It is essential not to cut or suck the snake bite, apply any ointments, chemicals, hot or cold substances to the wound. Instead, the patient's confidence should be maintained, and they should be transported to the nearest hospital or snake treatment center without delay.

Furthermore, it is important to rely on proper medical expertise when seeking treatment for snake bites. Visiting witch doctors or using traditional remedies that claim to absorb venom should be avoided. While it is helpful to identify the snake responsible for the bite, it is strongly advised not to attempt to kill the snake.
