Health Ministry urges people to avoid travel abroad unless absolutely necessary

KATHMANDU, Dec 1: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has urged all people not to make foreign visits unless it is absolutely necessary to travel abroad.

Issuing a press statement on Wednesday, Deputy Spokesperson for the MoHP, Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari appealed to all people to avoid travel abroad keeping in view the threats of the outbreak of the Omicron variant of COVID-19. The new variant, first detected in Africa, is said to be the highly infectious variant of COVID-19.


Dr Adhikari, however, said that there are no cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 detected in Nepal as of Wednesday. He maintained that necessary precaution is necessary in order to stop the new variant of COVID-19 from entering Nepal.
