KATHMANDU, Jan 28: The Supreme Court is conducting a hearing on Thursday on separate contempt of court cases filed against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, former parliament speaker Daman Nath Dhungana and four former chief justices - Kalyan Shrestha, Sushila Karki, Anup Raj Sharma and Min Bahadur Rayamajhi.
A single bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Sharma will conduct the hearing on three separate contempt of court cases filed against PM Oli, former speaker Dhungana and four former chief justices this afternoon.
On January 26, two separate cases of contempt of court were filed against Prime Minister Oli at the apex court.
A contempt of court case was registered on January 27 at the apex court against four former chief justices who issued a joint statement three weeks ago against the government's act of dissolving parliament. Advocates Dhanjit Basnet and Lochan Bhattarai filed a contempt of court case against four former chief justices, claiming that they had committed contempt of court by issuing a joint statement on the case which was sub judice at the apex court.
On January 26, advocate Rajaram Ghimire filed a contempt of court case against former speaker Dhungana stating that he had committed contempt of court by giving remarks on a case sub judice at the apex court.
