Himalayan Sherpa into semis

KATHMANDU, Nov 18: Yeti Himalayan Sherpa Club (YHSC) has advanced into the semifinals in the ongoing 1st Chandragiri Gold Cup football tournament on Friday.

KATHMANDU, Nov 18: Yeti Himalayan Sherpa Club (YHSC) has advanced into the semifinals in the ongoing 1st Chandragiri Gold Cup football tournament on Friday. 


YHSC defeated APF Club 3-0 in the quarterfinals. Two goals from Heman Gurung and one from Piyush Henry helped YHSC see off APF. Heman gave Sherpa the lead in the 14th minute of the match and doubled the lead in the 74th minute.  Henry further increased Sherpa’s lead in the 87th minute. Heman was declared the man of the match.

YHSC will now take on Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) in the last-four match. In the other semifinals, Friends Club will play against CMG Sankata Club. 


A total of seven A-Division teams are participating including the host. The winner will bag Rs 500,000 along with the trophy while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 250,000. 


Likewise, the best player and the highest goal scorer of the tournament will receive Rs 30,000 each while the man of the matches of the tournament will get Rs 3,000 each.
