Lakpa Dendi Sherpa’s autobiography ‘Himalayan Maverick’ launched

KATHMANDU, April 23: An autobiography titled ‘Himalayan Maverick’ of world record holder mountaineer Lakpa Dendi Sherpa published by Books Writing Nepal Pvt Ltd was officially launched amidst a programme organized at Everest Base Camp on Friday.

KATHMANDU, April 23: An autobiography titled ‘Himalayan Maverick’ of world record holder mountaineer Lakpa Dendi Sherpa published by Books Writing Nepal Pvt Ltd was officially launched amidst a programme organized at Everest Base Camp on Friday.


The book was jointly launched by Kami Rita Sherpa, world record holder and mountain guide, and Binod Kulung, president of Books Writing Nepal.

Sherpa successfully climbed the highest peak of the world 3 times in 10 days and managed to set his name in the Guinness World Record. Similarly, after successfully climbing the world's first and second highest peaks, Mt Everest and K2, within 59 days.


Addressing the event, world record climber and mountain guide Kami Rita Sherpa said, "There are innumerable stories in the mountains and it is very pleasant to write those stories in the form of a book. It is my good fortune to see Sherpas continue to advance in intellectual fields such as book study and book writing in addition to mountain climbing.”


According to the president of Books Writing Nepal, Binod Kulung, there are many Nepali heroes behind the scenes in the field of mountain climbing. While writing the story of the mountain, we got Lakpa Dendi Sherpa as the first character. He said that he brought 'Himalayan Maverick' as a representation of Sherpa climbers' stories. He also said that 'Himalayan Maverick' will be available worldwide soon through Amazon.
