Historical linkages between Lumbini and Takshila discussed

KATHMANDU, June 25: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu in collaboration with the Center for Advanced Studies in South Asia (CASSA) organized a seminar on the topic “Lumbini and Takshila: Conceptualizing the Concept” in Kathmandu on Monday.

KATHMANDU, June 25: The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu in collaboration with the Center for Advanced Studies in South Asia (CASSA) organized a seminar on the topic “Lumbini and Takshila: Conceptualizing the Concept” in Kathmandu on Monday.


During the seminar, participants discussed deep historical linkages between the archeological sites of Lumbini (Nepal) and Taxila (Pakistan).

Addressing the event, Pakistan's ambassador to Nepal Mazhar Javed highlighted the civilization linkages between the two sites of archeological importance. He underlined the importance of the location of Taxila, which allowed it to absorb external influences on its arts that led to the evolution of Gandhara Art.


A recently undertaken research work by Professor Dr Sangita Rayamajhi and Professor Dr Arun Gupto was also launched during the event. The seminar was addressed by Vice Chancellor of Lumbini Buddhist University, Professor Haridaya Ratna.
