House committee sets retirement age of 60 for serving civil servants

KATHMANDU, Nov 14: Parliamentary State Affairs and Good Governance Committee has decided to set the retirement age of 60 for those government employees who are presently serving the government.

KATHMANDU, Nov 14: Parliamentary State Affairs and Good Governance Committee has decided to set the retirement age of 60 for those government employees who are presently serving the government.  


Endorsing the proposed Federal Civil Service Bill, a meeting of the committee held at Singha Durbar made a decision to this effect on Thursday.

According to the bill, those serving the government will be able to continue working till the age of 60 when the bill is enacted.


The decision was made in consultation with the Public Service Commission, the only government body that is authorized to hire employees for the civil service.


With this, there will be uniformity in the retirement age of everyone on the government’s payroll, according to the committee members.  Currently, civil servants retire at the age of 58.
