KATHMANDU, Sept 10: Parliamentary Committee on Development and Technology has accused the government of becoming insincere toward waste management of Kathmandu Valley.
The committee made such a conclusion after making a field observation of landfill sites at Sisdol and Bancharedanda in Nuwakot district on Monday.

Committee chairperson KalyaniKhadka said that the committee would soon instruct the government to address the demands of local residents of the dumping site areas and manage the waste properly.
"We are planning to hold a comprehensive discussion with the people of Sisdol and Bancharedanda, and concerned authorities," Khadka said.
Khadka further said, “We are aware that the affected people around the landfill sites have not received any compensation so far, therefore, we are going to direct the government to settle all these issues at the earliest.”
A lawmaker from Nuwakot Binda Pande committed to seeking a long-term solution to the problem in coordination with Kathmandu Metropolitan City and concerned authorities who are overseeing the waste management of Kathmandu Valley.
Locals at the landfill site in Nuwkot have been agitated for a long time. They also have said that rain-triggered landslides have obstructed the roadways in their locality in the recent days. Following the local residents' complaint, the committee inspected the landfill sites to take the stock of the situation.
