UDAYAPUR, Jan 6: The police have registered a 'human trafficking case' against two women of Gaighat, the district headquarters, on the charge of running an illegal sex business in the name of running a hotel. The police filed a case against them accusing them of running a sex business at Nikita Hotel in Triyuga Municipality-11, Gaighat Bazar.
Two days ago, seven people, including five women and two men, were caught red-handed in the act of sexual activity. According to local eyewitnesses, some even managed to escape. The joint team of the district police and the city police conducted a raid at 5:30 in the evening. The police did not bring out all the details as to who were arrested, stating that the investigation is still underway. Out of the five arrested women, the police registered a case of trafficking against two hotel owners.

According to the police, they registered a case against Sharmila Danuwar of Triyuga Municipality-9 and Dev Kumari Chaudhary of Triyuga-1 and proceeded with the criminal process. During investigation, it was found that they used to lure innocent women of the village and forced them to engage in sexual activities under financial temptation.
According to the police, they were able to arrest the hotel owners on January 4 after continuous surveillance as they received information that illegal sex business has been going on in the hotel for a long time. According to the police, a large amount of temporary contraceptives devices (condoms) were also seized during the raid. DSP Rakesh Podar, information officer of the district police office, said that according to the statements of the victims who were arrested there, two female hotel owners were found to be the main culprits.
An investigation has been started against them after the district court issued an order to remand them in custody for five more days. According to legal experts, there is a provision to slap 5 to 20 years in prison and fines if they are found guilty of engaging innocent women in illegal sex business through financial enticement.
