IFRC donates 100 units of oxygen concentrators to Nepal red Cross Society

KATHMANDU, June 24: The International Federation of Red Cross and the Red Crescent Movement (IFRC) have donated 100 units of oxygen concentrators and spare parts to the Nepal Red Cross Society at the initiative of the IFRC’s Asia Pacific Regional Office in Kuala Lumpur.

KATHMANDU, June 24: The International Federation of Red Cross and the Red Crescent Movement (IFRC) have donated 100 units of oxygen concentrators and spare parts to the Nepal Red Cross Society at the initiative of the IFRC’s Asia Pacific Regional Office in Kuala Lumpur.


The health materials were handed over to Dr Netra Timsina, Chairman of Nepal Red Cross Society by the Chief of Red Cross and IFRC, Azmat Ulla at the central office of Red Cross Society in Kathmandu.

At the event, Azmat Ulla praised the workers and volunteers of Nepal Red Cross for their contribution to the control and prevention of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. He said that the health materials have been provided to the Nepal Red Cross Society to assist in avoiding the death and suffering of infected patients due to lack of oxygen. 


Upon receiving the oxygen concentrators, Dr Timsina expressed his commitment to send the materials to rural and mountainous regions where infection rates are high.


General Secretary of the Nepal Red Cross Society Pitambar Aryal commended the partner bodies for their support. He said that the oxygen concentrators could be used to reduce the death rate caused due to lack of oxygen during the pandemic.
