The meeting which took place at the home minister's official quarters in Pulchowk, primarily dwelt on the implementation of a three-point agreement signed between  the government and CPN earlier on Friday, according to Kiran Bhattarai, a press aide to the home minister.

In response, the home minister told Chand that the process to release the leaders and cadres of the CPN has already begun and some have already been released as per the agreement.

"A few leaders and cadres who are still in prison due to technical reasons will also be released soon," Bhattarai quoted the home minister as saying in the meeting.

The Chand-led CPN agreed to renounce violence and join peaceful politics after it reached the three-point agreement with the government earlier on Thursday following two rounds of talks on Wednesday.

The three-point deal was formalized amid a function held at the City Hall in Kathmandu on Friday, which was attended and addressed by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and CPN General Secretary Chand.

Cabinet ministers, government officials and leaders of the Oli-led faction of the Nepal Communist Party also joined the event which drew attention from both domestic and international arena.
