ILLAM, Dec 1: Both India and Nepal have been found encroaching the no-man’s land in Illam. The Indian side has constructed a government building in between the border, while the Nepali side has built residential houses and other infrastructure in the ‘dasgaja’ area.
It has been found that both the sides have encroached upon the no-man’s land in 19 places along the border of Ilam. According to the security officials, both the sides have encroached upon the ‘dasgajha’ land.

The Armed Police Force’s Border Observation Post in Pashupatinagar confirmed that the no-man’s land has been encroached upon in the region. Both the sides have built infrastructures in Sandakpur, Kalpokhari, Meghma, Garibas, Tumling, Manebhanjyang, Chitregumba, Hile, Chabbishe, Fatak, Pulkhola and Gufapatal.
The Indian side has constructed roads in the no-man’s land. There are camps of Indian security forces in Hile, Chabbishe and Sandakpur areas. In Chabbishe, the Indian side has constructed a government school. The playground of the school is also in the Dasgajha area.
In Pashupatinagar, the Indian side has constructed a check post within Nepal’s boundary. In Manebhanjyang, both the sides have built residential homes. The Nepali side has built a toilet in Kalpokhari, while the Indian side has built a guest house in Sandakpur.
A total of 32 residential houses are built by both the sides in the no-man’s land. The Indian side has built 20 residential houses, while the Nepali side has built 12 houses.
Meanwhile, a border pillar between Nepal and India has been missing. There should have been 16 main pillars along the Nepal-India border but there are only 15.
