India provides Rs 219.9 million for construction of dharmashala

KATHMANDU, July 15: Construction of Nepal-Bharat Maitri Pashupati Dharmashala at Tilganga is set to commence after the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, awarded the contract for the construction to Lama-Raman JV on Thursday.

KATHMANDU, July 15: Construction of Nepal-Bharat Maitri Pashupati Dharmashala at Tilganga is set to commence after the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, awarded the contract for the construction to Lama-Raman JV on Thursday.



Ambassador of India Ranjit Rae, Pashupatinath Area Development Trust (PADT) Member Secretary Govind Tandon, and other officials and representatives from different ministries were present at the function where the contract was signed between the Indian Embassy and the PADT.



The Indian government will provide Rs 219.9 million for the construction of dharmashala, which is expected to be completed in 18 months. The dharmashala will have provisions for dormitories, family rooms, kitchen, dining hall, library and some multipurpose halls to meet the requirements of the groups and families on pilgrimage to Pashupatinath, according to the press statement issued by the embassy.



Apart from the construction of the dharmashala, the Indian government has made a commitment to provide Rs 5 billion for the reconstruction of important cultural heritage sites that were damaged during the devastating earthquake last year.
