KATHMANDU, April 112: The Indian government has built a maternity hospital in Siraha district.


Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri inaugurated the 25-bed hospital built with Indian grant assistance of Rs 26.90 million on Tuesday.

Issuing a statement, the Indian Embassy said that the hospital was built in memory of Nepali Congress leader Chandra Narayan Yadav.


Sita Devi Yadav, central committee member of Nepali Congress as well as Chairperson of Chandra Narayan Memorial Trust, was present at the inauguration ceremony of the Chandra Narayan Memorial Maternity Hospital built to strengthen India-Nepal relationship.


“The hospital will provide access to maternity and health care services to the people of 50 VDCs in and around Siraha district. The non-profit hospital is being run by the Chandra Narayan Yadav Memorial Trust to provide quality maternal and child care service,” said the statement.


The hospital provides facilities like ultrasound, X-ray, emergency service, minor and major operations, ICU, CCU among others.


“The newly built infrastructure will provide improved maternal and child care health service to the people of Siraha and surrounding districts and help to reduce the maternal and child mortality rate,” the statement further said.
