KATHMANDU, June 30: Three services have been initiated from the new building of the Paropakar Maternity & Women’s Hospital (PMWH), Thapathali, Kathmandu. Starting this Sunday, safe abortion and family planning services have been provided from the building.
The ground floor of the building houses a help desk, a ticket counter, a pharmacy, the Outpatient Department (OPD), ultrasonogram services (video x-ray) and lab services. Similarly, safe abortion and family planning services are provided on the first and second floors.
Additionally, there is a training hall and a simulation lab on the third floor. The fourth and fifth floors are used as a hostel. The uppermost floor has been separated for the kitchen.
Paropakar Maternity Hospital launches online ticketing
Services related to infertility such as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and nursing campuses are operated from Kupondole.
Similarly, gynecology-related services including OPD, pregnancy, maternity and newborn care services are being provided from the old building located in Thapathali.
Dr Shree Prasad Adhikari, Director of PMWH said the new building cost Rs 435.9 million to construct. He said that plans are underway to procure X-ray, Ultrasound machines and other equipment.
The One Heart Worldwide Nepal has undertaken the financial responsibility of operating the simulation lab for maternity practice where the students and health employees will practice the entire maternity process.
The PMWH has also introduced online ticketing for all OPD. Dr Adhikari said that one can get online tickets via the PMWH website as well as the ‘Amakomaya’ App.
According to data from the PWHN, the hospital provided OPD services to 161,000 individuals and maternity services to 22,000 individuals last year.
