KATHMANDU, March 1: Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae paid a farewell call on Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Tuesday morning as he prepares to return home after completing his assignment in Nepal.
According to the Prime Minister's Secretariat, Prime Minister Dahal thanked Ambassador Rae for maintaining effective and balanced diplomacy during his stay in Nepal. The prime minister also expressed confidence that the the friendly relations between Nepal and India will be further strong in future.
Prime Minister Dahal praised Rae for his efforts in expediting the implementation of development projects initiated with Indian support.
High-level visits are positive but not enough: Experts
According to the Prime Minister's Secretariat, Ambassador Rae thanked the Government of Nepal and the Nepali people for the positive support he received during his tenure. Although Rae's tenure concluded on Tuesday, New Delhi has yet to name his successor in Nepal.
Separatley, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong also paid a courtesy call on PM Dahal on Tuesday morning.
According to the Prime Minister's Secretariat, Dahal and Yu discussed the local-level elections and the infrastructures development in Nepal. During the meeting, the prime minister said that the agreements between the two countries regarding connectivity and infrastructures development are gaining momentum and expressed his hope for further assistance from China.
According to the secretariat, the prime minister told the Chinese envoy that the government has been working to implement the constitution and has already announced the date local election date. The prime minister also sought 'positive' support from China in the entire process.
The prime minister also said that the development programs under China's "One Belt, One Road" initiatives will move ahead soon in Nepal.
During the meeting, Ambassador Yu said that the Nepal has been moving in positive direction in implementing constitution and said that China will always support Nepal in infrastructures development.
