PARSA, Nov 17: Police have held an Indian man with a large cache of sample ballot papers that were illegally brought into Nepal from neighboring India.
A police team assigned at the Janakitola transit point arrested Ijajat Ahmad of Naraktiya Gram Panchayat-14 in Bihar, India with at least 15,000 units of sample ballot papers that were printed in India, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipak Giri. The sample ballot papers were smuggled on an Indian number plate motorcycle (BR 22 W 8002) through the Janakitola transit.

Ahmad was released and handed over to his family on the condition that the investigation would continue. The confiscated sample ballot papers have been kept under police custody in a bid to control its misuse in view of the November 20 elections to the members of House of Representatives and the Province Assembly in Nepal, said Chief Returning Officer Binod Pokharel, adding, "Further investigations are currently underway."
