Indian Stars bags first win in ACPL

KATHMANDU, June 28: Indian Stars registered its first victory in the ongoing Asian Club Premier Club (ACPL) defeating Dubai Warriors by 20 runs, on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, June 28: Indian Stars registered its first victory in the ongoing Asian Club Premier Club (ACPL) defeating Dubai Warriors by 20 runs, on Wednesday. 



With a win, Stars which is at the bottom of the points table, has now two points from five matches while Warriors is in the fifth place accumulating two points from four matches. 



In the match played at TU Cricket Ground, put into bat first after losing the toss, Stars made a total of 138 runs losing nine wickets in allotted 20 overs. In reply, Warriors was bowled out for 118 runs in 18.1 overs. 



Stars couldn't make a decent start to the innings as it lost openers Suresh Kumar (5) and Sawpnil Patil (1) cheaply. However, Gurmeet Singh who came to bat at third number scored highest 48 runs off 47 balls to lift the Stars' innings. Simrat Bawa and Sachin Kumar contributed 14 runs each while none other batsman touched double digit. Stars also received 40 runs as extra which was crucial to form the respectable total. 



Satish Kumkar was the pick of the Warrior's bowlers as he pocketed four wickets while he was supported by Deepak Arora who added three wickets. Likewise, Sandeep Singh and Dawood Ejaz also claimed one wicket each for Warriors. 



Meanwhile, Warriors' Mohammad Imran stroked 40 runs facing equal number of the balls while Dawood Ejaz contributed not out 33 runs. Kashis Midha scored 13 runs off 17 balls while none other batsmen touched double digit.
