MORANG, August 5: Police have said that the items recovered from two separate places in Biratnagar in mid-July are not uranium. The police had arrested 15 people with 2 kg of what appeared to be uranium.

They were arrested when separate groups were preparing for the sale. The recovered uranium-like material was sent to the Mines and Geology Department for testing by the police. According to DSP Deepak Shrestha, the spokesperson for Morang Police, the report of the said item was 'negative'. As soon as the report came, it was confirmed that the item was not uranium and that the arrested persons were trying to sell fake uranium.

DSP Shrestha said, "It has not been determined what the item is if it is not uranium. It is not clear where it was brought from and what it will be used for. It has not even been decided how to manage the recovered items.”

There is only one person who provided the item saying it was uranium and that person is still absconding. An Indian customer was called in for the sale, but the police detained them before the customer arrived.
