Patan High Court orders release of former Home Minister Khand o...
Bal Krishna Khand, a former home minister, was apprehended by the police on May 10 from his residence over alleged involvement in the fake Bhutanese refugees scam. President Deuba has consistently stated that Khand deserves justice, emphasizing that 'the accusation has not been confirmed by the court.'
During the hearing on Friday at the Patan High Court, there was a difference of opinion between two judges on whether to release Bal Krishna Khand on bail.
Judge Prakash Kharel disagreed with Judge Janak Pandey's opinion that Khand should be released from prison on a bail of Rs 3 million. As a result, there is confusion about whether Khand will be released from prison on bail.
Now the matter will be decided after referral to another judge of the High Court. If there is no consensus between the two judges of the joint bench, according to Rule 12 of the High Court Rules, 2073 BS, it is referred to a third judge, and the decision is made by the majority.
