KATHMANDU, May 4: Japan has provided financial and technical assistance worth over Rs 8 million to Nepal for the reconstruction of Patan Durbar Square on Thursday.
Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Masashi Ogawa handed over the financial assistance and equipments to Dr Rohit Ranjit, director of Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust (KVPT) today.

According to the KVPT, the assistance will be used for reconstructing Krishna Mandir, Charnarayan Mandir, Bhisweswara Mandir and Mani Mandap based in Patan Durbar Square.
Handing over the reconstruction assistance, envoy Ogawa said Japan is always willing to assist Nepal which has similar cultures like that of Japan’s. Japan will continue its support to Nepal for the reconstruction of buildings and heritages destroyed by the earthquake.
The KVTP will carry out reconstruction works of the buildings destroyed by the mega earthquake in line with the traditional and archeological directory, said Bheshnarayan Dahal, director of the Department of Archeology.
