Joshi couple still missing

TIKAPUR, August 1: The whereabouts of a couple who went missing after a jeep fell into the Karnali River on Friday are still unknown. 


According to the Area Police Office, Chisapani, the jeep (Ba 11 Cha 938) they were riding in was found in a damaged condition in the river. Inspector Pushkar Pant informed that the front part of the jeep has not been taken out of the river yet.

He said that the search was being hampered due to high water level and turbid water in the river. The couple is being searched by divers. "The search is on," he said. “Divers have said that the search was difficult because of turbid water.”


Chandra Prakash Joshi and his wife Ruby Joshi of Doti's Adarsha Rural Municipality-3 had fallen into the Karnali River along with their jeep. They fell into the river from Batase Dada, Mohanyal Rural Municipality-7, about three and a half kilometers north of Chisapani in Karnali, police said. Three children in the jeep with them were found injured on the river bank.


The injured have been identified as Laxmi Joshi, 12, Sabitri Joshi, 4, and Bhuvan Joshi, 2. They are the children of the Joshi couple. The injured are undergoing treatment at Nepalgunj Medical College, Kohalpur.
